Shiina Ringo & Nirvana??
Recently, I was looking through all my music trying to find something different to listen to cuz I've kinda been listening to the same stuff over and over lately XD. I finally decided on Shiina Ringo, who I haven't listened to in probably like 2 or 3 years! lol

It's a shame I never got more into her music, it's really good! I kinda want to now XD. There are not many female singers I would consider myself a "fan" of because I usually prefer male vocals, but she seems so...unique/quirky/eccentric I'd be willing to try to make myself become a fan hahaha

After I listened to the songs I have by her (only 7, mostly singles) I hopped over to YouTube to watch the music videos. After watching the video for ギブス (Gibusu) I felt it seemed a bit similar to another video and after thinking for a bit it suddenly hit me which video—Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box!



For the majority of both videos the setting is an open field with flowers and a cross.


In both videos the band plays near the cross.


lol, ok, this is a bit of a stretch but...Both Kurt and Ringo do a bit of "crazy eyes" in the videos XD


Both videos have little girls with long hair wearing robes and a funny hat. Admittedly, though, the outfit for the little girl in Nirvana's video is a bit more...Klan-ish looking haha, but I'm not sure if that's what it was intended as, was it?


In both videos the little girls throw flower(s).


In Nirvana's video, the little girl's hat gets blown off her head and lands in a puddle of dark water. The hat soaks up the water and turns black. In Shiina Ringo's video, the flower bouquet that the little girl threw lands in a puddle of dark water, and gets "soaked up" (ok ok, "sinks in") by the water.


In Nirvana's video Kurt falls/slides out of a chair; the fall ends with his feet up in the air. In Shiina Ringo's video, she falls and lands with her feet in the air. There's also another scene in Shiina Ringo's video where she limply slides off a sofa onto the floor, which would also tie into falling/sliding out of a piece of furniture, since Kurt fell/slid out of a chair.



I think the overall message behind the two videos is fairly different, but there are a lot of visual similarities, and I'm thinking it must have been on purpose! After all, ギブス (Gibusu) has the lyric:

You're one to all of a sudden want to show me your sulky side
I'm always glad about that, I mean, it's so Kurt
Doesn't that make me Courtney?

"Kurt" being Kurt Cobain and "Courtney" being Courtney Love.




LOL, when I was uploading the pics for this post, I saw this and forgot I had uploaded it...



...I kinda want to make an avatar out of it now XDDDD (<3 Gogo Star's seemingly crazy singer).
I wish I had more avatar space...I mean, granted, I usually end up just using my default one anyway (it's been my default for like 3 or 4 years? A looooong time), but I don't know...It'd be nice to have a ton of them just in case the occasion ever arose when I needed a special or specific one. But the only way I can get more avatar space is to either switch to a "sponsored" account (= BANNER ADS = DO NO WANT), or get a paid account (= GIVING MY MONEY TO LJ = DO NOT WANT)... So I guess I'm stuck with my 6 avatar maximum :|
